Examination
During the first appointment, the orthodontist determines whether an orthodontic treatment is necessary and explains the possibilities of treatment. The final decision about the indicated treatment will be taken only after the creation of the diagnostic records.
Diagnostic records
Diagnostic records are usually created after the second visit. These include taking dental casts of both jaws, photographs and radiographs. From the dental casts plaster models of both jaws are casted. This is followd by measuring the plaster models, the photographs and the radiographs. With the information obtained an individual treatment plan is created for each patient. The diagnosis, treatment plans, the proposed treatment units, the length of treatment and an indication of the approximate cost are included in this plan. These initial documents are also used to control the course of treatment.
Regular appointments
The appointment where the fixed braces are installed usually takes about about one to two hours. The installation of removable devices and explaining the practical usage takes between 20 and 30 minutes. Afterwards we see each other every four to eight weeks to readjust the clasps. These appointments will take between 20 and 40 minutes for fixed devices, a little less for removable devices. Our regular office hours are Monday till Fridays from 8:30 – 12:00 o’clock and on Mondays, Thursdays and Fridays from 14:00 – 18:00 o’clock as well as Tuesdays from 13:30 – 17:30 o’clock. Patients can only be treated if they have an appointment. We try our best to be on time and expect the same from our patients. If you can not make the appointment please call immediately. Postponements should be made only in case of emergencies. Since our appointments are made four to eight weeks in advance, it is difficult to assign an earlier date.
Emergency appointments
Emergency appointments can be made in cases of severe pain, loose bands / brackets, broken wires or sharp wire parts that you can not eliminate yourself. It is important that you tell us which part is damaged when you call us.
